The video of a woman being attacked in a Beijing hotel lobby went viral last week. The attacker had already pushed the woman down and had dragged her through the hallway before one female staff member intervened.
Now, another violent attack has appeared on Weibo. There are two different videos that show how a woman is publicly abused in broad daylight when a man kicks her in her face right beside a busy road. When the woman screams and steps away, the man runs towards her and attacks her again, continuously punching and kicking her. The woman fights the man, also by using pepper spray, but it does not stop him. He continues and pushes her against a fence and kicks her in the face.
The assault reportedly took place in Chengdu at the Jiao Zi bridge. Multiple people stand by and witness the violent attack, but do not intervene. Only after some time, one woman finally comes to the rescue and intervenes.

Both videos have been widely shared on Weibo since April 13, receiving thousands of comments. Many Weibo netizens have responded in anger to the videos – angry at both the man who hits a woman and at the bystanders who do nothing.
People also wonder about the context of the video, as it surfaced on Weibo without any background information: “Can anybody please tell me why this happened?”
“We don’t know what happened, but it’s never right for a man to hit a woman,” one Weibo user comments.
“Why is it always women who have the guts to help?” one netizen wonders.
“Nobody does anything, people are so cold,” someone else says.
Remarkably, another violent episode was caught on video in exactly the same place where this fight took place at Jiao Zi overpass (娇子立交) in 2015. A woman was then dragged out of her car by another driver in a road rage incident. Horrific footage showed how the man repeatedly kicked the woman in the head and threw her around, which left her with broken ribs and a severe concussion.
According to The Paper, Chengdu police is currently investigating this case.
